Imagine an outdoor community and industry where diversity thrives, equity is the norm, anti-racism is foundational, and accessibility is universal. Our changemakers don't just dream it; they build it, together. Opening Up The Outdoors is their ally, providing the support and connections they need to accelerate their vital work.
The OUTO Changemaker programme began in 2021 in the UK to support People of Colour building outdoor startups, organisations, clubs, and communities. Through a 12-week course, participants receive industry insight, mentorship, and grant funding to help grow and scale their initiatives.
Following two successful seasons in the UK, OUTO expanded the programme to the DACH region with a German-language edition.
In September we welcomed 19 new Changemakers to our community with our second German language course in the DACH region. This year´s class of Changemakers are building initiaitives, communitties and businesses across everything from hiking to swimming, mindfulness & wellness, running and climate action.
Today, and in partnership with Hatch and Social Impact ,we're proud to have supported 59 Changemakers across the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Each playing a vital role in shaping a more inclusive, equitable and anti-racist outdoor culture. As the programme grows across Europe, so does the movement.
